Bayelsa Governor leads condolence visit to family of late Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has cut short an official trip to lead a delegation to console the family of the late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

On Thursday night, Governor Diri, accompanied by his wife Gloria Diri, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, and former Deputy Governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd), visited the late Deputy Governor’s widow, Her Excellency Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, and other family members at their official residence in Government House, Yenagoa.

During the visit, Diri offered words of comfort, assuring the family of the government’s support. He recalled his close working relationship with Ewhrudjakpo, describing him as a “resourceful partner committed to the development of the state” and highlighting his significant contributions over nearly six years in office.

The governor expressed sorrow over the loss and urged the family to find solace in God. He also stated that the government would coordinate with the family on burial arrangements to honour the late Deputy Governor.

Governor Diri extended condolences to the Ewhrudjakpo family, the Ofoni Federated Community, former Governor Seriake Dickson, and all Bayelsans, describing the passing as “irreparable.”
