Bayelsa Signs Solar Panel Production Deal with Jampur Group
Bayelsa State has taken a major step toward renewable energy development with the signing of an agreement for the establishment of a solar panel manufacturing plant in the state.
The tripartite deal was sealed on Tuesday between the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the Bayelsa State Government, and J Marine Logistics Limited — a subsidiary of Dubai-based Jampur Group, suppliers of the state’s 60MW gas turbines.
The agreement was signed during the 2025 Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. Governor Douye Diri signed on behalf of Bayelsa, while Jampur Group Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Shafiq, signed for the company in the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and REA Managing Director Abba Aliyu.
Under the deal, Jampur Group will finance and build a 100MW renewable energy plant for solar panel production in Bayelsa, providing the technical expertise and global standards required for efficient operation.
Bayelsa was selected as the project site for its strategic location, available infrastructure, and skilled workforce. The state government will provide land, planning permits, tax incentives, and infrastructure support, including access roads, water, power evacuation, and security.
The project is expected to commence immediately.
