BODO–BONNY ROAD OPENS TEMPORARILY AFTER MINISTERIAL COMMISSIONING

The long-awaited Bodo–Bonny Road received a temporary opening today following a formal commissioning by the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Nweze Umahi, alongside the Secretary of State and key representatives of the Bonny Local Government Area.

The development marks a major milestone for residents and businesses that rely on the strategic route, especially during the festive season. The temporary access is expected to ease movement and boost commercial activities across the communities.

However, authorities announced conditions for use of the road, including a tolling system and a temporary restriction on heavy equipment and trucks. The road will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Officials also indicated that a full closure may occur next year to allow for final completion works, though no specific timeline has been confirmed.

Security agencies are expected to maintain surveillance along the corridor to ensure safe and orderly use.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and remain vigilant while using the newly opened route.
