CLARK CALLS ON INEC TO CONDUCT BY-ELECTION IN RIVERS IMMEDIATELY

Elder statesman Edwin Clark has written a petition to Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.

The elder statesman demanded an immediate conduct of by-elections that will lead to filling the 27 vacant seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA).

Clark has stated that: “The prolonged absence of representation deprives the people of their rightful voice in governance.”

On December 11, 2023, those 27 lawmakers defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which Clark has argued violated Section 109(1)(g) of Nigeria’s Constitution.
