It was a day of reflection, grief, and celebration as Yibo Koko, creative director of Seki Dance, laid his mother, High Chief Amoni Family Koko J.P., to rest.

The Service of Songs, held on Wednesday, was a heartfelt gathering where family, friends, and well-wishers paid glowing tributes to Mama, honoring her remarkable life and the lasting impact she had on those around her.

Later, at her family home on 6 Beach Lane, Amadi Ama, a Night of Tribute brought loved ones together in a poignant celebration of her legacy. Through shared memories and heartfelt reflections, they honored the life of a woman whose influence and kindness will not be forgotten.

The funeral service for High Chief Amoni Family Koko J.P. was held at the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Amadi-Ama, where family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to pay their final respects.

During the service, Bishop Enoch Atuboyedia delivered a heartfelt admonition, urging sympathizers to live a life worthy of resurrection and emulation, just as Mama did. The sermon, drawn from Romans 8:31, was read by Tekena Yibo Koko, emphasizing faith and the enduring power of a life well-lived. The officiating minister also administered Holy Communion to family members and church communicants, marking the solemn yet spiritual occasion.

Born on July 10, 1944, in Amadi-Ama, Rivers State, High Chief Amoni Family Koko was raised by her grandparents until their passing. Throughout her life, Mama’s greatest legacy was her investment in others. She took it upon herself to care for family, friends, and even those whose paths crossed hers, embodying a spirit of generosity and selflessness.

The funeral activities concluded with a grand reception, where guests were treated to an array of delicacies and vibrant cultural entertainment.

The highlight of the event was the electrifying performances by the Seki Dance Group, a renowned project of Mr. Yibo Koko, and the Koboko Cultural Club from Abia State, who captivated the audience with their diverse dance steps and rich musical displays. Adding to the spectacle, Sensational Bamidele took the stage, delivering a powerful performance that resonated with the gathering.

The event was graced by respected dignitaries from various walks of life, alongside members of the Port Harcourt City One Love Group, who came together to celebrate the life and legacy of High Chief Amoni Family Koko in a fitting and memorable way.
