Day 1: Abobo-De 1st Marks First Anniversary on the Throne with Praise, Worship, Widows’ Outreach in Finima

Aseme-Alabo Abinye Owen Brown, Head and Chief of the Abobo Alawari of the Brown Group of Houses, popularly known as Abobo-De 1st, has marked his first anniversary on the throne with a special programme of praise and worship alongside widows in Finima.

The event was held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Abobo-Brown Opuwari, drawing community members, widows, and well-wishers together in an atmosphere of gratitude, reflection, and service.

Aseme-Alabo Abinye Owen Brown was duly nominated, elected, coronated, and installed as the First Head Chief of the Abobo-Brown Chieftaincy House, in line with Ibani custom and tradition. Following his installation, he was also inducted into the Council of Chiefs in Finima, formally assuming his traditional leadership responsibilities.

The anniversary celebration commenced with Day One activities, featuring the formal opening and commissioning of the Abobo-Brown Sub-Chieftaincy House Opuwari. This was followed by prayers with widows, during which gifts and welfare items were presented to support them, underscoring the chief’s commitment to compassion, unity, and social responsibility within the community.

Beyond his traditional role, Aseme-Alabo Abinye Owen Brown brings notable professional and academic experience to leadership. He is a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt (Unique Uniport) and an oil and gas negotiations expert, a background widely regarded as adding depth and strategic insight to his stewardship.

He is married to Alabota Ibiwari Owen-Brown, the last daughter of the late Chief Maxwell Allwell-Brown, and their union is blessed with three children.

The first-year anniversary on the throne was widely seen as a moment of thanksgiving and renewed commitment to service, blending cultural heritage with community care and spiritual reflection.
