The Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area (DELGA), Hon. Dr. Agiriye Monima Harry, presented a compelling account of his administration’s achievements to the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) Committee on Local Government Affairs during their oversight visit to the LGA on February 10.
The Committee, led by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Adolphus Orubienimigha, emphasized that the oversight function aims to ensure transparency and accountability in line with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s “Rivers First” agenda.
Harry highlighted key achievements in health, education, infrastructure, and social services, including the renovation and equipping of the Usokun Health Centre, the provision of Keke Ambulances, medical procedures involving high end surgical interventions such as eye replacement surgery, hip replacement surgery and knee reconstruction surgery and the installation of a 400KVA power generating set. He also outlined plans to complete abandoned projects, such as the gas turbine project in Bakana and the new administrative block at the council secretariat.
The Committee, which also included Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Complaints, commended Governor Fubara’s inclusive leadership style, contrasting it with the previous administration’s perceived focus on a single LGA.
