The Empowered Survivors Aftercare Initiative (ESAI) is the foundation’s flagship survivor empowerment programme designed to help breast cancer survivors rebuild their lives beyond treatment. Through vocational training, mentorship, psychosocial support, business education, and startup empowerment, the initiative seeks to restore dignity, confidence, healing, and economic independence to survivors.
Supported by the International Cancer Foundation, the pilot cohort began with 11 survivors, serving as proof that survivorship should not end in stigma, isolation, or poverty, but rather in renewed hope and opportunity. The initiative also reflects the broader mission of Engraced Life Foundation in advancing breast cancer awareness, survivor support, early detection, and community healing across Nigeria and Africa.
Launched a little over a month ago, the programme was designed to equip breast cancer survivors with practical skills, mentorship, encouragement, and a renewed sense of purpose beyond their diagnosis.
The graduation ceremony celebrated the courage, resilience, growth, and transformation of the survivors as they stepped into a new chapter filled with confidence, creativity, and opportunity.
The graduating survivors, who received training in pastry making, production of cleaning agents, Ankara crafts including fascinators, bags, purses, earrings, and throw pillows, as well as finger foods preparation, expressed gratitude to the foundation for restoring their hope and giving them another reason to live confidently after surviving breast cancer.
In addition to the vocational training, the survivors were presented with startup seed funds, machinery, and materials needed to fully establish themselves in their respective crafts.
