Family, Friends Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Late Mrs. Gloria Bibi Osuma at 90

It was a day of celebration as the family of the late Mrs. Gloria Bibi Osuma gathered to celebrate her life and peaceful passage at the age of 90, following decades of devoted service to children, family, the Nembe Kingdom, and all who came in contact with her.

The funeral ceremony, which took place at Koko Square, Nembe, was officiated by the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, featuring an open-air service marked by soul-lifting hymns, special song renditions, and a solemn procession.

Delivering the sermon, the officiating minister, Rt. Rev. Dr. Nixon Akpotunumubofa Enekeme, anchored his message on Ecclesiastes 3:1 and Psalm 23. He encouraged the family to emulate the exemplary life of Mrs. Osuma, place their trust in God as their Shepherd, and understand that there is a time for everything under heaven.

Special prayers were offered for the family, committing them into the hands of God for protection, strength, and longevity, just as Mrs. Osuma lived a long and impactful life.

Mrs. Gloria Bibi Osuma was laid to rest in her hometown and family compound in Nembe Kingdom.

The burial ceremony witnessed a large turnout of friends, family members, traditional rulers, and sons and daughters of the Nembe Kingdom, who came out in their numbers to pay their last respects to a woman of worth.

Born in 1935 into the family of Chief Daniel Ayehanengiyefa, Mrs. Osuma began her early education at St. Luke’s Primary School, where she obtained her Standard Six Certificate in 1951. She later moved to Ikot-Ekpene, where she lived with her aunt, before relocating to Kaduna to reside with her uncle, Mr. Albert Spiff.

Mrs. Osuma will be fondly remembered for her optimism, determination, resilience, and hard work. A devoted Christian, she was deeply committed to her faith and the service of God. She was also a gifted composer of hymns and spiritual songs, touching lives through her music and ministry.

Indeed, she lived a fulfilled life and left behind a lasting legacy of faith, service, and love.
