HOW FASHION is Seen IN THE WORLD TODAY
Fashion today is more than amped up dress up for adults. It’s a reflection of who we are and what we believe. The fashion industry contributes greatly to society by allowing us express ourselves, our creativity and our beliefs to the world.
Throughout the ages, fashion has been an important part of society and culture. As the human world developed so did the practice of clothing and what people developed out of different materials to wear. From the beautiful arcs of printed silk dresses made in dynastic China, to the elaborate corseted ball gowns of eighteenth century England, what a colourful and imaginative array of designs that mankind has developed over the years!
Fashion today is about uniqueness and not adhering to what is considered the ‘latest’ or ‘trendy’. Fashion plays an important role in society because it has the potential to bring different people together to celebrate their own individuality. The best way to enjoy fashion is to wear what you love and be yourself!
Truth be told, In modern society, we place fashion too high on the scale. The fact that wearing a tracksuit or a suit changes people’s perceptions of someone’s personality is so ridiculous, rather fashion is used to spread an idea around very Powerfully and Coherently.
Fashion has been and always will be a constant part of our existence. It is a creative, multifaceted industry that is vital to our Economic and Personal well being.
THE IMPORTANCE OF FASHION IN THE WORLD TODAY
• Grow Your Confidence;
Fashion helps in boosting your confidence as a person. Since fashion is all about art and letting your creativity flow, The more creative you get, the more you express yourself, the more confidence you boost.
• Fashion Binds the World Together;
One of the biggest reasons fashion is important in our society is that it binds the world together. Not with a needle and a thread, but with the enormous shows that rock the streets of Portharcourt, Lagos Abuja, and many other cities globally. Fashion will always have an everlasting impact on people across the globe and is appreciated worldwide.
•Serves as a means of Employmen
Because the fashion industry as a whole is worth so much, it is able to employ many people. Jobs and the economy go hand in hand, and this is true in the fashion industry. When more jobs are created, the economy does better.
• Fashion Depicts Culture;
Our Fashion Sense is intimately related to the social and cultural values we carry. Culture can be identified in some of people’s choice of apparel that can signify
– Religious beliefs: a Muslin Hijab, a Nun’s Habit, a Jew Kippah
– Symbols: cross, star, eye, flower, and other drawings can symbolize luck, fortune, hope, love, strength, and much more
– Specific events: prom dress, wedding dress, baptismal gown, mourning clothe
– Belonging: sports team uniforms, school uniforms, work uniform
– Activity: beachwear, sportswear, outerwear, social wear
Fashion is more prevalent in the world today. The Fashion Space Today is an open society where class distinctions are not so rigid as in primitive society. Its urban and mobile class structure enables people to cultivate individual taste and adopt new course. The Fashion Space in Today’s world is more tolerant of differences and therefore places few shackles on the cycle of fashion. Our standards of judgment have also changed. Today the individual is rated more by observable externalities than by his ancestry, his character or his genuine accomplishments. The clothes a man wears, the language he speaks, the manners he shows have more weight in ascribing a status than his simplicity, patriotism and integrity. In other words, Fashion is a powerful storytelling instrument.
