The Foundation For Child Diabetes Awareness In Nigeria has carried out a major health awareness campaign in Ogoloma, Okrika Local Government Area, aimed at combating childhood diabetes and improving general health among residents.
The outreach programme featured a series of free medical screenings for both children and adults. Beneficiaries were tested for Tuberculosis, and HIV, alongside glucose testing to detect early signs of Diabetes Mellitus. A key highlight of the campaign was a health talk on diabetes, where participants were educated on its causes, warning signs, and management. Parents were encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles for their children and to seek medical attention when symptoms arise.
Educational materials, including books and other resources, were distributed to support continuous learning and awareness within the community.
Officials from the Ministry of Health were also present, lending support to the initiative and reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
Residents of Ogoloma expressed appreciation to the organizers, noting that the programme provided much-needed access to free healthcare services and valuable health information.
The FFCDAIN outreach is part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about childhood diabetes and strengthen community health systems across Rivers State.
