Final Journey in Honor of Late Madam Joyce Nimia Atiyegoba (Née Soberekon) 1939 – 16th March 2026 Aged 87

On Saturday, 27th June 2026, family, friends, and loved ones gathered to bid farewell to a matriarch, a woman of grace and legacy.

The funeral rites began at Ashes to Ashes Mortuary, where her body was received with solemn respect. From there, the cortege proceeded to Buguma City, Asari-Toru LGA for the traditional lying-in-state.

The first stop was her husband’s compound, that of Late Chief Boma Miller Atiyegoba, (Atieyegoba the IV) where chiefs and elders received her body with prayers and honors.

The journey continued to her father’s compound, Late Chief Obu Soberekon Benjamin’s home, for a second lying-in-state, as chiefs offered prayers and paid their final respects.

Her body was then brought back to Port Harcourt for a funeral service at the Ecumenical Centre, UTC Junction.

The day concluded with a reception at the Port Harcourt Club, 37 Forces Avenue, Old GRA. Friends, family, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate a life well lived. Good music filled the air, and in joy and gratitude, everyone danced and celebrated the remarkable legacy of Mama Joyce.

Rest in perfect peace, Mama
