The Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council, Hon. Golden Jeremiah , led a delegation of Bayelsa Local Government Council Chairmen on a courtesy visit to the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, at his residence in Yenagoa.
The Chairmen, who were warmly received by the former President, stated that they came to “rob minds” with him as a father, leader, and stakeholder in the drive for grassroots development at the local level. They sought his counsel and guidance as they effectively discharge their duties and bring about meaningful development to their respective local governments.
In his response, the former President assured the Council Chairmen of his support and fatherly advice anytime he is called upon. He emphasized the importance of grassroots development and encouraged the Chairmen to work tirelessly to improve the lives of their people.
Dr. Jonathan also advised the Council Chairmen to seek the support of all stakeholders, including political leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other relevant groups, to help drive the needed unity and development in their local governments. He stressed that development can only be achieved through collective efforts and collaboration.
The courtesy visit was marked by a warm and cordial atmosphere, with the former President and the Council Chairmen engaging in discussions and sharing ideas on how to move the local governments forward. The meeting ended with laughter and a handshake of unity, symbolizing the commitment of the Chairmen to work together for the development of their local governments.

The Council Chairmen who accompanied Hon. Golden Jeremiah on the visit included that of Yenagoa Local Government, Southern Ijaw Local Government, Nembe Local Government, Brass Local Government, Kolokuma Opokuma Local Government, Sagbama Local Government and Ekeremor Local Government.
The visit is expected to yield positive results, as the Council Chairmen are set to implement the advice and guidance offered by the former President in their respective local governments.
