FUNERAL OF LATE PRINCE JENEWARI AUGUSTUS BRAIDE

The funeral of late Princess JENEWARI Augustus Braide who passed on to glory on the 14th of December,2024 was held on the 8th of February, 2025 at the Cradle of Christianity in Kalabari, Niger Delta Diocese (Anglican Communion) Kalabari-Toru Missionary Archdeaconry St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Bakana, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Late Elder Jene A. Braide was born 1st August 1939 into the Royal family of His Royal Majesty Late Samuel Will-Braide (his father) the former Amadabo of Bakana. and his mother Mrs. Maria Samuel Will-Braide-(nee Esec Anopia Duru) from Ikeduru, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

Elder Jene Braide was also known and fondly called Eyinnaa (Daboikiabo).

Elder Jene started his early education at Saint Andrew’s Primary School Bakana from standard 1-3 then moved to St. Paul’s Primary School Bakana where he completed his Primary School Education. He gained admission into Enitonia High School Port Harcourt his Secondary Education and later sat for his A’LEVEL Exams and joined the Nigerian Railway after graduations.

Until his death, he was married to his lovely wife Dame Mrs Balmy Jene Braide. He was blessed with a daughter and two sons. He was a loving, caring, Kindhearted and devoted
family man.

Born into a Christian home and brought in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. He cultivated the habit of serving the Lord in holiness with all his heart and strength. Elder Jene was baptised an confirmed in the Anglican Church. In 1950, in a quest to have a formidable quartet Mr. A. A. Alalibo selected Late Dr Mensah Blankson, Late Mr. Innocent Tariah, Beauty Braide and Jene Braide to render a quartet during a Thanksgiving Service.

After the rendition of the quartet, their wonderful performance earned them an automatic membership as choristers of St. Andrew’s Church Bakana over riding all protocols.

To young Jene it was an honour and privilege to serve God which also marks the beginning of his serious church activities.

Elder Jene served God with all his heart and in holiness. He never waited to be pushed before serving God, he offered himself as a sacrificial lamb. An active servant of God who never expected any reward from anybody.

As a member of the Young Adult Group he was always at the fore front to organise carols and the manger during December (Christmas Eve).

It is therefore not surprising that he volunteered his residential house for choir rehearsals many years at No. 4 Hospital Road before he relocated to Rumuobiokani.

Elder Jenes Angelic voice as a tenor singer had no rival. While in active service, Elder Jene held many functional positions as the First Chairman of St. Andrews Young Adult Association for more than half a decade before handing over to late Jeremiah James lyalla. A member of the good Samaritan team of the church.

He was a Committed servant of God always dedicated in carrying out any assignment apportioned to him.

Elder Jene joined the Nigerian Railway as a Clerical Officer in the 60’s. He however resigned after the Civil War. He got an appointment with the Rivers State Housing Cooperation which was later changed to the Rivers State Housing and Property Development Authority as a Senior Administrative Officer. A position he held until his retirement.

Eder Jene was a member of the Bakana club, And the life president of the kalabari pioneers till his demise.
