On February 1, 2025, a solemn and dignified funeral service was held at the Rivers State Ecumenical Center, Abonnema Wharf Road, Port Harcourt, in honor of Late Madam Isobel Etietsola Owoboye Green, who transitioned on November 24, 2024, after a brief illness.
Madam Isobel was born on January 13, 1914, in Lagos, Nigeria, to the family of Late Emico Omeroyo Mi Adolla and Esther Tari Alagoa. She began her education in Lagos and later completed her Standard Six at the Municipal School in Port Harcourt.
Following her education, Madam Isobel pursued a career in commerce, excelling as a telex secretary. She worked with the government of the Eastern Region in both Port Harcourt and Enugu before being recruited as a pioneer telex operator for Nigerian Agip. Her expertise in this field later led her to Safrap (now Total Energy), where she continued in the same role until her retirement in 1983.
After retiring, Madam Isobel embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, successfully running catering services. She managed restaurants at First Bank’s airport branch and The People’s Clubhouse in Rumuola, Port Harcourt, where she served clients with dedication and excellence for many years. She later transitioned into agriculture, establishing a farm in Gbam, Nonwa, which she actively managed until her passing.
A devoted Christian, Madam Isobel was a third-generation Anglican. She was confirmed at St. Cyprian Church, Port Harcourt, and later became an active member of Christ Church Nigeria Limited. She faithfully served in the women’s group until her health challenges limited her participation.
The funeral service held at the Port Harcourt Ecumenical Center was a solemn and heartfelt occasion as family, friends, and loved ones gathered to bid a final farewell to their beloved mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. The service was a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was marked by strength, resilience, and deep love for her family and community.

They reminded the congregation that her legacy lives on through the kindness, integrity, and unity she instilled in those around her.
As the final prayers were said, there was a deep sense of gratitude for the life she lived and the impact she had on everyone she encountered. Her strength, wisdom, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those she left behind.
Madam Isobel was widely known for her strong personality, independence, and unwavering commitment to truth.
