Gov. Diri, wives attend service of songs of late uncle
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri alongside his wives, Dr. Gloria and Hon. Justice Patience, today attended the service of songs in honour of Chief Jothan Michael Diri, at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, Yenagoa.
Chief Jothan Diri who died at the age of 83 is uncle to Governor Diri.
The governor in his remarks, described his uncle as a man of peace, who showed love to all that came in contact with him.
”Today, we have begun the final burial rites of my late uncle with this service of songs, and I want to thank God Almighty.
Like the song writer will say, this world is not our own, and we are all passing through. We are all strangers in this world, so, the best we can do is to love one another, and my uncle showed love to us and all that came in contact with him.
I didn’t start preaching peace and love overnight, it was the way we were brought up. In our family, we had love for one another.
On behalf of the Diri family, I want to thank leaders and the people of the state who have come to join us in this service of songs to honor this great man,” Governor Diri stated.

Rodney Ambaiowei, member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, former deputy governors of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah (Rtd) and Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly and other members of the House, Hon. Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Daniel Ayah, President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Bayelsa State, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the state government, members of the state executive council, Barr. Dennis Otiotio, Caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Bayelsa State, Local Government Council Chairmen, HRM King Bubaraye Dakolo, AGADA IV, Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom and Chairman, Bayelsa State Council of traditional rulers and other traditional rulers, members of the clergy and other top government officials.
