Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been denied access into the premises of the Rivers State House of Assembly Residential Quarters where plenary takes place.
The gates were firmly locked and for a while of waiting, nobody came to open the gates despite the efforts made to get the attention of security at the post.
Governor Fubara was there this Wednesday 12th March 2025 to formally present the 2025 budget to the lawmakers.
The Governor said, “I am here personally, this morning with a few members of the State Executive Council, to comply with the Supreme Court judgement.
“Before my arrival, I had already made several attempts by phone calls to reach the Speaker and other members. I also did a letter personally, which was transmitted to the Hon Speaker for this particular invitation.
“But it’s unfortunate that at the gate, as you can see, that the place is completely sealed and there is no sign that anything is going to happen today.
“The reason why we are doing this, I have already said it, is the interest of Rivers people, which is the most important thing.
“Well, I don’t think there is anything to worry about. Maybe, they are working on my letter, I expect to hear from them may be after this hour.”
