Hamas carries out public execution in Gaza hours after ceasefire deal
Hours after the ceasefire deal on Monday, the Palestinian armed group, Hamas, carried out a public execution as they returned from their enclave to exert control in Gaza.
Moments after the Israel Defense Forces left Gaza, Hamas militias crawled out of their enclaves to exert control over the territory.
A video of the public execution went viral, showing armed Hamas militias masked and about eight blindfolded men kneeling before them.
“Moments later, the gunmen open fire, killing all eight,” the BBC reported. “Shouts of ‘Allahu Akbar’—God is greatest in Arabic—can be heard from the crowd as the gunmen stand over the bodies.”
In a statement, Hamas claimed the executed people were “criminals and collaborators with Israel.”
The public execution comes as another episode of internal skirmishes in Gaza since the IDF left the place after a peace deal brokered by American President Donald Trump.
At least 27 people were killed in a fatal clash between Hamas militias and armed members of the Dughmush family, a prominent clan, in Gaza.
