Owo, the ancient yet pristine kingdom with a heritage spanning over a thousand years, welcomed His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, as he visited the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.
Situated on a varied topography of vast lands, the people of Owo greeted the Warri delegation with royal hospitality, reflecting the deep shared history between the two kingdoms.
The relationship between Owo and Warri has flourished over many generations and royal reigns, benefiting both peoples. Ogiame Atuwatse III is the third Olu of Warri to visit Owo, following Ogiame Erejuwa II and Ogiame Atuwatse II.
The main focus of this visit was the Coronation Anniversary of the Olowo, who has sat on the throne of his forebears for the past five years.
The visit began on December 16, 2024, with a welcome in the most revered courtyard of the Owo Palace, where His Imperial Majesty Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, along with the esteemed chiefs of Owo, received Ogiame Atuwatse III and the Warri delegation, which included chiefs and sons of the kingdom. Followed by a celebration and gala nite in honour of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III. The following morning, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III joined Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III for a royal fitness walk around Owo.
The Red Boat has since returned to Warri, and His Majesty prays that the blessings of the Almighty remain with the Olowo and all the people of Owo. He also wishes them joyous celebrations for the remainder of the coronation anniversary.
