The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku, has been installed as the new Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The historic event took place on Saturday, marking a significant transition in the traditional leadership of the community following the demise of the late Paramount Ruler six months ago.
In accordance with the Ayakoro Community Constitution, Chief Ogbuku, who previously served as Deputy Paramount Ruler, was unanimously entrusted with the responsibility of leading the community as the Paramount Ruler, assuming the revered traditional title of Daufa VI of Ayakoro Community.

The selection process was conducted under the supervision of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. During the exercise, Chief Micha Itekesi also emerged as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler of the community.
Speaking after his emergence, Chief Ogbuku described the decision of the people as a profound expression of appreciation, confidence, and trust in his years of service to the community.
According to him, the honour goes beyond the conferment of a traditional title, representing the community’s recognition of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment towards the welfare and development of its people.
He noted that the occasion serves as a reminder that genuine service to humanity never goes unnoticed, emphasizing that true leadership derives its greatest value from selfless service and commitment to the common good.
The NDDC boss expressed gratitude to the people of Ayakoro for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to lead with humility, fairness, integrity, and dedication. He also sought divine guidance and wisdom as he assumes the sacred responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the community.
Chief Ogbuku prayed for a reign that would promote peace, strengthen unity, preserve the dignity of the people, and accelerate the progress and prosperity of Ayakoro Community.
He further assured residents of his commitment to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous, and united community for present and future generations.
The installation of Chief Samuel Ogbuku as Paramount Ruler is being widely regarded as a recognition of his longstanding contributions to community development and public service, both within Ayakoro and across the Niger Delta region.
