… as Gov. Diri assures project will not suffer funding, admonishes civil servants to reciprocate gesture.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dame (Mrs.) Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has performed the groundbreaking/foundation laying of the construction of iconic 9-storey secretariat complex for civil servants in Bayelsa State.
Governor Douye Diri, in his remark, appreciated civil servants in the state for their support and admonished them to reciprocate commitment to work when the secretariat complex is completed.
“My dear civil servants, as we embark on this project, a project of over 46billion naira, I can assure you all that funding will not be an issue. We believe that you will also reciprocate by being punctual, committed to your work and ensuring that government programs and policies are executed at record time,” Governor Diri stated.
On her part, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack noted that the project aligns with the broader vision of strengthening the Nigerian Civil Service at both the state and the federal levels to deliver people-centred governance.
She said the initiative is a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and governance in the state.
The project being handled by an indigenous contractor, Megastar, is expected to be completed in 24 months.
In attendance were the Deputy Governor, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, two former Deputy Governors, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu and Rtd. Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, members of the National Assembly, Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, and other State Lawmakers, invited Federal Permanent Secretaries, Commissioners, other top government officials, a cross section of senior citizens of the state and workers in the Bayelsa State Civil Service.
