A dedicated ministerial session titled “Collaborative Leadership: Charting the Path to Energy Security” took center stage at the NOG Energy Week 2025 Strategic Conference.

With Nigeria facing a national energy shortfall of roughly 40%, and its population expected to double by 2050, experts and policymakers stressed the urgency of forging stronger partnerships, boosting policy reforms, and investing in technology to build a secure and sustainable energy future.

The session featured H.E. Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), and H.E. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), in a conversation moderated by Oritsemeyiwa A. Eyesan, CEO of Omatz Energies.

Sen. Lokpobiri called for bold and decisive action to advance Nigeria’s energy transition, while also exploring local financial solutions to support growth. Minister Ekpo highlighted the critical role of gas, underlining its place as Nigeria’s key growth driver through initiatives like the Decade of Gas, which he described as essential to reducing energy poverty and cutting emissions.

The discussion underscored a shared commitment to building a diversified energy mix and establishing cross-sector collaboration as the backbone of Nigeria’s long-term energy security.
