Olu of Warri Confers Chieftaincy Title on First Lady Oluremi Tinubu

The Warri Kingdom recorded a historic moment on Thursday as His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom on Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

The investiture ceremony held in Warri carried deep cultural and personal significance, marking what was described as an official homecoming for the First Lady, who traces her maternal ancestry to the Itsekiri ethnic nationality of the Warri Kingdom.

In honour of her contributions to national service and representation of Nigeria on the global stage, the monarch also decorated Senator Tinubu with the Royal Order of Iwere (ROI), regarded as the second-highest honour in the Warri Kingdom and reserved for distinguished sons, daughters, and allies of the Itsekiri nation.

The ceremony attracted prominent dignitaries from across the country, including Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; and the Dein of Agbor, Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I, alongside other traditional rulers, government officials, and distinguished guests.

The Warri Kingdom described the honour as a celebration of heritage, leadership, and enduring ties between the First Lady and her ancestral roots, noting that the investiture further strengthens unity and cultural pride within the Itsekiri nation.
