Osun State Government has appointed Prof. Chinwe Obuaku-Igwe as Director-General and Special Envoy
The Osun State Government has appointed Prof. Chinwe Obuaku-Igwe as Director-General and Special Envoy to the Governor on Climate Change and Renewable Energy.

Governor Ademola Adeleke said the move reflects Osun’s commitment to climate governance and renewable energy innovation.
Prof. Obuaku-Igwe has spearheaded key initiatives, including:
• Training 2,000+ youths and women in waste-to-wealth ventures, creating 350 green SMEs.
• Establishing a recycling hub with FBRA and Waste Swap, formalising 400+ jobs.
• Distributing 10,000+ solar lanterns to rural pupils under the IMOLE campaign.
• Launching an E-Bike pilot to cut transport emissions and fuel costs.
• Developing Osun’s Climate Action Plan, Renewable Energy Policy, and Circular Economy Framework.
She has also represented Osun at global platforms such as COP28 and the Citizens Lobby Conference, securing climate-linked investments. Her work has created over 2,500 jobs and positioned Osun as a pioneer in Nigeria’s green economy.
As DG & Special Envoy, she will drive international partnerships, coordinate cross-sector climate action, and strengthen Osun’s role in national and continental climate leadership.
The Government congratulated Prof. Obuaku-Igwe and reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous green economy.
