PENGASSAN Set to End Strike After 5-Point Resolution With Dangote Refinery

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) is likely to suspend its strike after reaching a five-point agreement with Dangote Petroleum Refinery, brokered by the Federal Government.

At a conciliation meetings held in Abuja on September 29–30, 2025, both parties agreed that unionisation is a legal right that must be respected. Disengaged workers will be absorbed into other Dangote Group companies without pay loss, while no staff will face victimisation over the dispute.

Labour Minister Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi confirmed the resolutions in a communique, noting that PENGASSAN has begun the process of calling off the strike.

The talks, attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, TUC leaders, PENGASSAN executives, and Dangote management, resolved a standoff that began after over 800 workers were laid off, sparking nationwide disruptions.
