President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and prominent Ogoni leaders to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for critical discussions on pressing issues.

Key discussions included the progress of the Ogoni cleanup project and the prospects of restarting oil exploration in the region, which has faced decades of environmental degradation.

Among the delegation were distinguished personalities such as Senators Lee Maeba, Minister of FCT, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Magnus Abe, and Olaka Nwogu, Chief Victor Giadom, Chief Kenneth Kobani, Monsignor Pius Kii, Leedom Mitee, Senators Bennett Birabi, Barry Mpigi, Chief Keneth Kobani, Prof.B. Fakae, amongst others.

Also in attendance are some of President Tinubu cabinet members; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited NNPCL, Mele Kyari.

The specific agenda of the meeting is yet to be made public but sources in the presidency claim it may not be unconnected to issues of Ogoni clean-up and resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland.
