The family of the late Mrs. Minjiba Felicia Ateli organized a Service of Songs in her honor, celebrating her remarkable life and legacy. Mrs. Ateli passed away on April 19, 2025, at the age of 88.
On June 17, 2025, family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered at Christ Church, Forces Avenue, Old G.R.A, Port Harcourt, to pay tribute to her dedication to faith and community. The service began with opening prayers and a hymn, accompanied by Bible readings.
Mrs. Ameidiki Emmanuel Georgewill, Mrs. Ateli’s daughter, gave a heartfelt tribute, describing her mother as an “amazing, extraordinary, and fantastic” woman who was a devoted teacher, poet, and educationist. She noted that her mother was an only child who became a friend to her and her siblings.
The ceremony continued with special renditions from the choir and tributes from various groups, including the Ladific Ladies Group and the Queens College Old Girls Association. Mrs. Leticia Ogali a member of the Ladific Group praised Mrs. Ateli as a woman of great standing in society, known for her jovial nature and commitment to correct spoken English.
The clergyman, Very Rev. David Ama Kalu, emphasized the importance of living a life of purpose, faith, and dedication. Family and friends found comfort in the memories she left behind and the lasting impact she had on everyone she encountered.
Mr. Emmanuel Tubotamuno Georgewill thanked attendees for their presence and urged everyone to attend the upcoming commendation service on June 20, 2025.
