The club has evolved over years to become a distinguished private member club catering to the elites and nobles of of the society . The club is also a symbol of cultural heritage , connecting generation through a shared love for boating , camaraderie and spirit of celebration through water sports.
As port harcourt Boat club approaches itβs 78th Anniversary this year, we are thrilled to welcome members and guest to the β Port harcourt Boating festival 2025 β, it is a three days celebration of Africa Boating Cultural Heritage.
The Theme for this year’s Boating festival is β Reviving the African Boating Cultural Heritage.

The Port Harcourt Boat Club’s annual boating festival is a highly anticipated event in the city’s social calendar. This year’s festival, held from May 1st to May 3rd, was a resounding success, showcasing the club’s commitment to promoting community engagement, sports, and cultural heritage.
The festival kicked off with a children’s show that featured a safety moment, boat ride, bouncing castle, clown, and children’s picnic with live music. The event was designed to entertain and educate the young ones, providing a memorable experience for families.
The official opening ceremony was a grand affair, with Engr. Bowadua Ngiangia anchoring the opening prayer. The Vice Commodore, Sir Dan Harrison, delivered a warm welcome remark, setting the tone for the festival. The Chairman of the Boat Club, HRM King Alfred Papapriye Diete-Spiff, declared the festival open with a brief speech and fanfare, highlighting the club’s mission and objectives.
The last day of the festival was a fun-filled day, featuring a canoe and boating competition that drew six compounds. Three teams emerged victorious, and prizes were awarded to the winners. The competition was fierce, but the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie prevailed.
A highlight of the festival was the unveiling of the new boat club house project by Sir Dan Harrison. This state-of-the-art facility will provide a comfortable and modern space for club members to relax, socialize, and enjoy their love of boating.
The club took the opportunity to recognize distinguished members, friends, and corporate organizations that have supported the club’s activities over the years. The awards ceremony was a testament to the club’s commitment to acknowledging and appreciating the contributions of its stakeholders.
