Port Harcourt, May 19 – It was a day of joy, reflection, and thanksgiving as Princess Nne Ekpeyong celebrated her 90th birthday in grand style, surrounded by family, friends, and well-wishers.
The milestone celebration began with a surprise party organized by her children and grandchildren. The highlight of the day was not just the heartfelt tributes and warm atmosphere, but the family’s thoughtful decision to extend their joy to the Port Harcourt Children’s Home, sharing love and support with the less privileged.
The celebration reached its spiritual peak with a thanksgiving service held at the Mary Slessor Presbyterian Church, Port Harcourt. Family members gathered to offer thanks to God for preserving the life of their beloved matriarch. Church groups, many of whom have been touched by Princess Ekpeyong’s years of service and devotion, presented gifts and offered prayers in her honour.
The officiating pastor delivered a message drawn from the Book of Proverbs, reminding all of the importance of honouring one’s parents. He praised the Ekpeyong children and grandchildren for their exemplary devotion in celebrating the life of their mother, affectionately referred to as their “millennial mother.”
During the service, Mama’s children rendered some of her favourite hymns and songs, filling the sanctuary with warmth and emotion. The celebration continued with the cutting of her birthday cake and special prayers for the family.
In the evening, the family hosted a private dinner at Asia Town, where guests were treated to a serene and elegant atmosphere. The night featured soothing music, exquisite dishes, and a heartfelt moment where loved ones penned their thoughts and prayers in a special birthday card for Mama.
