Qatar Bars Solo Nigerian Male Travellers Under New Visa Rules

Qatar has introduced new visa restrictions that bar Nigerian men from obtaining tourist or transit visas unless accompanied by their families.

The Ministry of Interior announced the measures citing frequent cases of overstays by Nigerian visitors. Under the new rules, only female travellers or family groups may apply, while all applicants must provide proof of a confirmed return ticket and hotel reservation.

In addition, only bookings in five-star hotels now qualify for visa processing. The policy applies to both new and pending applications, affecting Nigerians already in the approval stage.

Qatar, a popular tourist destination for Nigerians, hosts thousands of visitors annually. However, the new restrictions are expected to limit short-term and leisure travel for many.
