This is to inform the general public that the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority has commenced the revalidation of approved building plans and development permits within the areas covered by the Greater Port Harcourt City Master Plan.
Henceforth, all corporate and private individuals who got their building approvals and development permits from the Authority and have not commenced development AFTER TWO YEARS OF APPROVAL, are advised to visit the Authority for revalidation.
This is in line with the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority Law, No2 of 2009 and the Rivers State Physical Planning Law, No.6 of 2003; and also to meet with current realities and best practices, to reduce and forestall cases of incessant building collapse.
The Authority has mapped-out strategies to identify defaulters. Therefore, any developer who flouts this directive would risk both prosecution and outright revocation of his building approvals and development permits by government. Any such building erected without a valid building approval will be demolished at owners cost. Be Guided!
