RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT KICKOFF MAMII INITIATIVE IN BONNY

The Rivers State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing maternal and newborn mortality in the state as it marked the Maternal and Newborn Mortality Reduction Initiative (MAMII) in Bonny.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, emphasized the importance of safe delivery and healthy start for every child, saying the state has fully embraced the MAMII initiative. The event was attended by traditional rulers, health workers, and community members, who pledged to support the initiative.

Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh thanked the Federal Government for donating two water ambulances to the state, saying it would enhance emergency response in riverine communities. She also commended health workers, community members, and traditional rulers for their support, urging them to translate commitments into actions that would save lives.

The Honourable Commissioner stressed that every pregnancy deserves safe delivery and every child deserves a healthy start, saying the state would ensure that childbirth becomes a moment of joy and not sorrow.
