RSU Inducts 27 Medical Doctors, Admission Quota Raised to 300

Rivers State University (RSU) has inducted 27 newly qualified medical doctors at the 2nd Induction Ceremony of its College of Medical Sciences, marking a key milestone in the University’s medical training programme.

The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, said the induction strengthens the state’s healthcare system and urged the doctors to contribute to reducing maternal mortality and improving primary healthcare.

Pro-Chancellor, Hon. Okey Wali, SAN, represented by Emeritus Prof. Joseph Ajienka, charged the inductees to uphold professionalism and integrity, while Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, attributed the increased admission quota to academic excellence and transparent processes.

Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Prof. Fatima Kyari, reminded the doctors of their ethical responsibilities. The Provost, Prof. Kenneth Shelu Ordu, disclosed that government support raised the College’s admission quota from 50 to 300.

Highlights included a valedictory address by best graduating doctor, Dr. Obu Kingdom Lawrence, and the decoration of former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Blessing C. Didia.
