Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo Urges Youth to Harness Yuletide Economy in Rivers West

Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, has highlighted the economic opportunities presented by the Christmas season, urging youth to take advantage of the festive period to innovate and create.

Speaking ahead of the season, Senator Banigo noted that Christmas is not only a time for celebration and homecoming but also a major economic catalyst, creating opportunities in tourism, hospitality, events, and the orange economy. She emphasized the importance of preparedness in maximizing these gains.

“In leading oil and gas nations, tourism is now a key revenue driver, and Nigeria is no exception. I encourage our youth to think outside the box and position themselves to benefit from the ’yuletide economy,’” she stated.

The initiative will include workshops with stakeholders to ensure events meet global standards, heritage assets are developed to attract tourists, young entrepreneurs deliver exceptional products, and hospitality providers maintain high service standards.

Senator Banigo also expressed appreciation to UNESCO and called on other organizations to support efforts to harness the Christmas economy in Rivers West, across Rivers State, and Nigeria as a whole.
