South-South Development Commission Holds Historic Inauguration, Appoints Pioneer Leadership

The South-South Development Commission (SSDC) officially marked a historic milestone with the inauguration and swearing-in of its pioneer leadership team in Abuja. The event followed the presentation and adoption of the Commission’s committee report, paving the way for the rollout of developmental initiatives in the region.

At the ceremony, Ms. Usoro Akpabio was formally confirmed and inaugurated as the first Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission. She will lead the agency alongside the newly appointed Chairman, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, in steering the affairs of the SSDC.

Also inaugurated were other key members representing various states and regions:
• Rt. Hon. Larry Odey (Cross River)
• Charles Zuofa (Bayelsa)
• Dr. Nkereuwem Ebong (Akwa Ibom)
• Engr. Chika Chinda (Rivers)
• Femi Oise (Edo)
• Dr. Charles Enukhowhate (Delta)
• Thabita Ilia Sallah (North East)
• Alhaj Yusuf Rasaq Amao (North Central)
• Hon. Bukola Braimoh (South West)
• Joseph Mammal (South East)

In addition, the following Executive Directors were sworn in:
• Chief Hon. Marcus Nle Ejii (Rivers), Executive Director, Projects & Works
• Engr. Prince Preye Aganaba (Bayelsa), Executive Director, Social and Human Capital Development
• Timi Ayibatonye (Delta)
• Joseph Ugheoke (Edo)
• Sony Abang (Cross River)

The inauguration was widely celebrated as a bold step toward accelerating development, social investment, and infrastructural growth across the South-South geopolitical zone and beyond.
