Rising Attacks on Schools
The closure follows fresh school attacks. In Niger State, gunmen abducted students from St. Mary’s School in Papiri, shooting the gatekeeper. Earlier, 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped in Maga, Kebbi State. Rumours of abductions in Nasarawa were later dismissed by police.

President Bola Tinubu has directed Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle to relocate to Kebbi to oversee rescue efforts and cancelled planned foreign trips.

The latest abductions add to a long list of kidnappings in schools since the 2014 Chibok attack. UNICEF has again condemned the trend and urged better protection for learners.
