Transfer: ‘He’s rooted in Okrika’ – Brentford announces signing of Nigeria eligible star
Premier League club, Brentford, have officially confirmed the signing of talented Nigerian player Kaye Furo.
Furo is eligible to play for either Nigeria or Belgium. He joined Brentford on a five-and-a-half-year deal.
On their official X page, the Bees shared that Furo was born in Okrika, Rivers State, Nigeria, but he grew up in Belgium.
Kaye is the son of Iyenemi Furo, a former Super Eagles center-back who helped Nigeria finish second at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations and also played for the Dream Team II in the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

At the international level, the 18-year-old is currently leaning towards playing for Belgium and has already played for their U15 and U16 teams and recently made his first competitive appearance with the U17 squad in a UEFA European Championship match against Finland.
He later played for the U18 and U19 teams and finally made his debut with the U21 team in September 2025.
The player, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall, is leaving Club Brugge after spending nine years with the team.
He played eight times for the first team and took part in 41 games with Club NXT.
“Roots in Okrika Nigeria. Raised in Belgium
Ready to make his mark in Brentford,” the Premier League side wrote on X.
“I have no doubt he will be a big player for us,” Keith Andrews, Brentford boss, added.
