Trump Demands UN Probe Into ‘Triple Sabotage’ After Escalator, Teleprompter, Audio Glitches

US President Donald Trump has called for an investigation into what he described as “triple sabotage” during his visit to the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, citing an escalator malfunction, a teleprompter failure, and audio disruptions.

In posts on Truth Social, Trump claimed the incidents were deliberate. “A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday – Not one, not two, but three very sinister events! This wasn’t coincidence. This was triple sabotage,” he wrote, adding he would demand a probe in a formal letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

The escalator stoppage occurred as Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were stepping on. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Trump’s videographer may have accidentally triggered the safety function. But White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt raised suspicions, posting on X: “If someone intentionally stopped the escalator… they need to be fired and investigated immediately.”

Trump later faced a teleprompter blackout during his speech, remarking: “Whoever’s operating this teleprompter is in big trouble.” UN officials said the White House had been running its own system. He also accused the UN of audio failures, claiming world leaders “couldn’t hear a thing,” though the UN explained the system channels speeches through interpreters’ earpieces.

US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz backed Trump, calling the incidents “unacceptable” and urging “swift cooperation and decisive action.”
