Trump Promises Sweeping Executive Action on First Day as President.

world news

On the eve of his return to the White House, President-elect Donald Trump vowed to swiftly enact sweeping changes, promising a flurry of executive orders as he took center stage at a victory rally in Washington DC.

Addressing thousands of supporters at the Capital One Arena, Trump painted a vision for his first day in office marked by “historic speed and strength.”

In a rally reminiscent of his campaign-style events, Trump reflected on his November election victory over the Democrats, setting the tone for his upcoming term.

He declared that upon taking the oath of office, he would wield his presidential powers to implement significant changes, targeting a wide range of issues, from immigration and military policy to environmental regulations and diversity programs.

“We put America first and it all starts tomorrow,” Trump told the cheering crowd, before teasing the audience about the impending actions.

“You’re going to have a lot of fun watching television tomorrow (Monday).”

Among the most anticipated actions is Trump’s promise to sign over 200 executive orders on his first day. These actions, which include legally-binding executive orders and other presidential directives such as proclamations, aim to fulfill some of his campaign’s boldest promises.

Every radical and foolish executive order of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours,” he declared.

The incoming president’s priorities are sweeping and include mass deportations, slashing environmental regulations, and eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. He also emphasised plans to ramp up artificial intelligence programs, create a new Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), and make previously sealed records related to the assassination of John F. Kennedy available to the public.

Trump also outlined plans to direct the military to develop an Iron Dome missile defense system, ensure transgender women are excluded from competing in women’s sports, and transfer education control back to state governments.

His rally, which began with a performance by Kid Rock and featured speeches from TV personalities like Megyn Kelly and actor Jon Voight, set the stage for what Trump described as a “proper course” for the nation. “You’re going to see executive orders that are going to make you extremely happy,” he assured the crowd.

While such actions are typical for a new administration, Trump’s promise of more than 200 executive directives stands out for its scale. Experts caution, however, that many of these orders, particularly those targeting immigration and deportation, may face significant legal and logistical challenges. Deporting millions of undocumented migrants, experts warn, could cost tens of billions of dollars and face massive hurdles in implementation.
