Vev Adore Debuts in Style at the 2025 Port Harcourt Fashion Week

The 2025 Port Harcourt Fashion Week delivered many memorable moments, but one of its most captivating highlights was the debut showcase of Vev Adore, the rising fashion brand founded by designer Violet Ehiaguina. For a first-time runway appearance, Vev Adore did not merely participate — it announced itself with clarity, conviction, and cultural depth. The collection offered a compelling blend of heritage, sustainability, and storytelling, signalling the arrival of a designer determined to leave a distinct mark on the Nigerian fashion landscape.

Although now based at TD9 Southend Estate, Aviation Village, FCT Abuja, Vev Adore’s roots lie in Port Harcourt, where Violet first planted her creative seeds in 2020. Returning to the Garden City for her debut showcase made the moment even more symbolic — a homecoming of sorts, and a celebration of how far she has come.

Violet’s journey into fashion began in childhood, inspired by her mother, a seamstress and businesswoman whose work exposed her to the world of fabrics and craftsmanship long before she knew she would one day be a designer. As early as age seven, Violet was already crafting jewellery and exploring small business ventures. Her sense of individuality deepened in university, where her style set her apart. When tailors struggled to capture her vision, she decided to learn the craft herself, buying a sewing machine and teaching herself the basics.

Her dedication pushed her to enrol in a local fashion school in 2017, then further sharpen her skills at Shakara Fashion Academy in 2020. After graduating — and later tutoring at the academy — she launched her own brand in 2021, committed to building a label that reflects authenticity and depth.

At the 2025 Port Harcourt Fashion Week, that vision took centre stage. Vev Adore’s collection was inspired by the culture, symbolism, and artistry of the Edo people. Violet used colour not just for aesthetics, but for storytelling. These colours came together in a runway display that felt intentional, rooted, and evocative — a narrative woven in fabric.

What made Vev Adore’s showcase stand out even more was its firm grounding in sustainability. About 80% of the brand’s fabrics are sourced locally, and Violet upholds a zero-waste ethos, incorporating recycled materials to produce garments that are both environmentally mindful and visually compelling. It was clear to many at the event that Vev Adore represents not just fashion, but purpose-driven artistry.

Beyond its runway presence, Vev Adore is also a Fashion Academy specialising in bespoke tailoring, couture, and operating a garment factory that trains and empowers aspiring designers. This educational arm of the brand reflects Violet’s desire to develop future talent, just as she once honed her own skills.

Her debut at the 2025 Port Harcourt Fashion Week signals a bold new chapter — for herself, for her brand, and for the cultural and sustainable values she champions. And as Vev Adore continues to grow from its base in Abuja, it carries with it the spirit of Port Harcourt, the richness of Edo culture, and the unwavering belief that fashion can be a powerful medium for telling stories.
