Rivers State Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas has challenges Nigerian youths, especially those undergoing the compulsory one-year national service to become trusted next generation leaders.
Speaking to the two thousand and eighteen (2,018) members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the State, the Administrator urged them to use their time in contributing selflessly to national development.
Vice Admiral Ibas spoke on Friday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area.
The Administrator was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika at the swearing-in of 2025 Batch A Stream I Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.
Vice Admiral Ibas said the NYSC Scheme has remained as a critical driver of nation building and the youths benefiting from it have a duty to demonstrate honor, dignity, and committed to providing leadership to steer the country to greater heights.
The Administrator pointed to the invaluable effort of the NYSC management in ensuring that the scheme is operated to meet 21st-century demands.
In his welcome address, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, said there are a total of 2,018 Corps Members (752 males, 1,266 females) admired into camp.
He charged them to embrace patriotism and sacrifice for Nigeria’s economic growth and peace.
