Wigwe University Commissions Sculpture to Honour Founder’s Legacy

Wigwe University has commissioned a sculpture in commemoration of its founder, marking a significant step in preserving its legacy and honouring visionary leadership.

The symbolic event, held on campus yesterday, emphasised the institution’s commitment to celebrating the ideals and enduring impact of its founding vision.

The commissioning was led by the Chairperson of the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor, Hon. Justice Amina Augie JSC (Rtd.) CFR, alongside members of the Governing Council. Also present were the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, and the sculptor, Dr Kenneth Njoku, who is the Head of the Department of Fine Art.

The occasion brought together a cross-section of the university community, including Deans of Colleges, Heads of Departments, Directors, faculty, and staff, reflecting a shared sense of pride and collective ownership of the institution’s heritage.

The sculpture stands not only as a tribute to the founder’s vision and contributions but also as an enduring symbol of inspiration for current and future generations of the Wigwe University community.
