••• Unveils Garden City Metropolitan University •••
The Garden City Premier Business School (GCPBS) celebrated its third convocation ceremony in Port Harcourt, drawing an impressive gathering of academicians, business leaders, and dignitaries from across various sectors of the economy.
In his opening address, the school’s president, Prof. Silva Opuala-Charles, highlighted the institution’s remarkable achievements. He announced that the school now offers 90 accredited courses in diverse specializations, approved by the European Global School-University, Paris, France, alongside postgraduate and industry-led programs from the IIC University of Technology, Cambodia. Prof. Opuala-Charles also revealed the establishment of a new institution, the Garden City Metropolitan University, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey.
The convocation lecture, delivered by Prof. Stephen Temegha Olali, focused on the importance of entrepreneurs sharpening their skills and fostering robust institutions to combat societal quackery.
The ceremony honored notable personalities with honorary doctorate degrees, including Alhaji Saleh Ahmadu OON, Captain Matthew Ado Karimo, and Pastor Clement S. Udoh. Fellowship awards were presented to Engr. Godwin Etim and Alhaji Saleh Ahmadu OON, recognizing their contributions to business and society.
In his goodwill message, former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru, urged the graduates to uphold the values of GCPBS and emphasized the transformative power of education. Similarly, HRH Beinmo Spiff, King of Cameroon-Ama, highlighted the critical need for parents to prioritize education, especially for the girl child.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Engr. Tele Ikuru and his wife, His Excellency Alfred Diete-Spiff (represented by HRH Beinmo Spiff), HRH Ezekiel Mike Elechi, Chief Dr. Mrs. V.N. Atako, HRH Chief Henry Micah, and other notable figures.
The convocation marked a celebration of academic excellence and a renewed commitment to advancing education and entrepreneurship in the region.
