GOV FUBARA INSPECTS OLD PH TOWNSHIP ROADS, CREEK ROAD MARKET PROJECTS
Reaffirms Commitment to Critical Infrastructure Development Amid Political Distractions
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to delivering critical infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the socioeconomic well-being of all residents.
The governor made this declaration during an inspection tour of ongoing rehabilitation works on all the roads within the Port Harcourt Old Township and the reconstruction of the Creek Road Market on Wednesday. .
At the Creek Road Market, Governor Fubara said he is fulfilling a pledge he made last year to restore the town’s aesthetic appeal and address the persistent issue of traders operating along the streets.
He noted that the contractor had mobilised to the site, with market reconstruction expected to commence within the coming week.
“You are aware that sometime last year, I visited this place and promised to bring back the beauty of the town by addressing the trading activities along Creek Road and other major streets.
“The contractor has already mobilised to the site, and I believe that in the next one week, the project will begin,” he stated.
The governor explained that the reconstruction project aims to provide proper settlements for traders, thereby clearing the streets and facilitating better road rehabilitation.
This initiative aligns with the administration’s broader goal of creating an improved urban landscape and restoring the town’s aesthetic appeal.
“By fixing this market, traders will move from the streets into designated market areas,” he said. “Once they are inside the market, the roads can be properly fixed, and the town’s beauty will begin to reflect again.”
At the road project site, managed by Setraco Nigeria Limited, the Project Manager Engr. Michel Issa, guided the governor through the progress on the road projects
Governor Fubara emphasised that the project extends beyond the market reconstruction to include the rehabilitating roads from Borokiri through the entire town to ensure robust infrastructure development.
“Rehabilitating the roads from Borokiri to all parts of town is essential. It’s about restoring the town’s infrastructure so that our people can enjoy better mobility and urban life.”
Addressing the current political climate, Governor Fubara sent a clear message that his focus remains on leadership and public service rather than external pressures.
“Our promise is to continue governance with focus and integrity. We owe our people this confidence, and we will not allow distractions to derail our progress,” he added.
