NDDC Boss Dr. Ogbuku Honored with Prestigious Chieftaincy Title in Ogu Kingdom

In a historic ceremony rich with tradition, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), was installed as Pere Se Bobo—”He Who Comes with Abundance”—by the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs.

Led by Chief (Hon.) Barrister Lawrence Abiebiari Inibi Egbelekleke, the council conferred full chieftaincy rights, privileges, and honors on Dr. Ogbuku following careful deliberation. This elevates him to full membership in the council, granting seats at statutory and annual meetings, and declares him a natural indigene of Ogu Kingdom.

The event underscores the Wakirike people’s deep traditions and restraint in chieftaincy matters, marking a defining moment for their institution.

Dr. Ogbuku, speaking on behalf of NDDC’s management and staff, expressed profound gratitude. “We sincerely acknowledge and appreciate the people of Ogu Kingdom for recognizing the Commission’s modest contributions to their communities,” he said. He highlighted NDDC’s ongoing work in infrastructural development, institutional strengthening, and people-oriented governance across Ogu Kingdom and wider Wakirike land.

The MD reaffirmed NDDC’s commitment to repositioning the Niger Delta through progress, service, and communal advancement. He extended special thanks to Alabo Boma Iyaye, NDDC’s Executive Director of Finance and Administration a son of Ogu Kingdom for his steadfast support in transforming Ogu and the broader region.

This honor celebrates NDDC’s tangible impacts amid efforts to uplift the Niger Delta region.
