Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Content Seminar, a key highlight of the NOG Energy Week 2025, was held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, under the theme: “Achieving Energy Security Through Local Content Implementation.” The seminar brought together key stakeholders from the oil and gas industry to explore how Nigeria can enhance self-reliance and global competitiveness through targeted local content policies and partnerships.

In her Welcome Address, Wemimo Oyelana, Portfolio Director  Africa & Country Manager, Nigeria, dmg events, set the tone for the day, stressing that this year’s overarching theme, “Accelerating Global Energy Progress Through Investment, Partnerships and Innovation”, is more than a tagline,  it is a call to action.

“It reflects our belief that Nigeria’s greatest strength lies in its people, institutions, and enterprises,” she stated.

She emphasized deliberate efforts to foster growth, build local capacity, and export Nigerian expertise. Oyelana urged stakeholders to see local content not as a compliance box, but as a shared path to inclusive prosperity and industrial advancement.

Delivering the Opening Address, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, FNSE, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB), underscored the crucial role of local content in boosting economic value across borders and securing Nigeria’s energy future.

He highlighted the continued relevance of key policy instruments such as the NOGICD Act, now in its 15th year of implementation, and Executive Orders 001 and 005, which promote Nigerian content in public procurement, R&D, and innovation.

“The ‘Nigeria First’ policy is more than patriotic rhetoric, it’s a blueprint for sustainable growth, built on procurement reform, enforcement, capacity building, and national pride,” Ogbe affirmed.

Throughout the seminar, participants engaged in strategic sessions and panel discussions addressing current challenges and opportunities in Nigerian content implementation, including financing, technology transfer, and local manufacturing.

As NOG Energy Week 2025 continues, the Nigerian Content Seminar reaffirms the country’s commitment to shaping an energy-secure future — driven by homegrown talent, strategic policy, and collaborative innovation.
