MDAs to Go Fully Digital by December 31 — Walson-Jack

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Didi Walson-Jack, says all ministries, departments and agencies are expected to operate fully paperless by December 31, as part of ongoing federal reforms.

Speaking on Thursday in Abuja at the Second Citizens and Stakeholders’ Engagement, she said the transition will be driven by an enterprise content management system aimed at improving efficiency, reducing delays and curbing corruption.

“Our goal is for citizens to reach us online and receive instant responses,” she said, adding that email addresses for registries of ministries already operating digitally will be released to the public.

Walson-Jack noted that over 92,000 public servants now have official government email accounts, enabling faster communication, secure file sharing and virtual meetings.

She commended Galaxy Backbone Nigeria Limited for supporting the digital rollout and highlighted the role of ASCON, the Public Service Institute of Nigeria and federal training centres in strengthening capacity across the service.

She said ongoing implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25) is improving digitalisation, capability building, innovation and accountability.

A Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis (PASSGAP) is also underway to assess workforce strengths and gaps. Verification for civil servants in Nigeria has been completed, while verification for those in the diaspora will run from December 15–19.

Walson-Jack added that the Performance Management System (PMS) is now used in promotions, helping ministries set clear expectations and measure outcomes.

She urged stakeholders to continue supporting efforts to build a more efficient and citizen-focused civil service.
